A week of uncharacteristically copious quantities of meetings and more meetings – all good causes and lots of great stuff to take in.
I had a MTB ride up and over Te Mata Peak to work and then after work back up the steep Craggy Range side and over to Havelock North – pretty hard out.
During the week I got to take home a few left over bottles of wine from a tasting – some outstanding numbers like 2009 Dry River Gewürztraminer, 2008 Vinoptima Gewürztraminer, 2009 Pegasus Bay Riesling, 2008 Shubert Waiarapa Pinot Noir – great fun doing you own random tasting at home.
Some very exciting projects on the go, one in Hawaii for December that will be bigger than Ben Hur – will tell more soon.
What a cool weekend!!! My son Lewis (11yrs) sung & played solo ukurere (an 8 string ukulele he bought in Rarotonga from busking money) at the Hasting Opera House in front of the famous Wellington Ukulele Orchestra, including original member Bret McKenzie of Flight of the Conchords fame, and had his first radio slot and Opera audition – which he nailed. Proud Dad!!!!!!
It was great to see so many kids and families trying to break a world record for the largest number of ukulele’s played together. I even had a crack.
Had a fantastic night at the Acoustic Church Tour in Napier’s St Johns Cathedral featuring Boh Runga, Greg Johnson, Nathan King, and Lydia Cole. All were outstanding, a great way to have a good dose of quality artists in an acoustically and visually beautiful venue rarely open to such gigs. Had a lovely quiet drink with Boh afterwards and heard about the cool stuff she has been up to in LA and her stylie jewellery collection.
Cheers, Ash
